Art on the Trail

Art is an important part of a trail experience that encourages connection and learning.

The Blue Green Connector will be a destination for art with purpose.

What purpose do we have in mind?   We’re looking for art that…

  • … celebrates biodiversity.
  • … connects to themes of clean water, healthy habitats, sustainability, and rewilding.
  • … helps you to think about the ecology and history of these lands and waters.
  • … inspires you to get out your binoculars, microscope, or field guide.
  • … calls you to listen, look, and to notice.
  • … encourages feelings of awe, respect, and pride of place.
  • … helps you appreciate or delight in your surroundings.
  • … serves as a call to action to restore and protect the environment.

If you haven’t heard, we’re seeking partners to bring this art to life!

We’re looking for creatives who live within 100 miles of Lancaster PA.  Anyone who has the vision and experience to bring art to life on the trail is warmly invited to respond and apply.

Check out our Call for Art for all the details.

At the moment, we’re looking to build relationships and identify a pool of interested partners.  Once we know more about each partner’s capabilities, we can match trail locations and artists.  Some places are perfect for tall, vertical art.  Others are better for sculpture, or artistic seating to appreciate a special viewpoint.  There are spots ideal for quiet meditation, and others for playful interactions.

Here are some examples of possible art formats:

  • 2D or 3D Art
  • Interactive Art
  • Artistic Seating
  • Stamped Concrete

At the moment, we’re planning for permanent art, but in the future there will be space for more temporary works.

Artists, makers, design professionals – we want to collaborate with you!  Do you have the vision and experience to successfully bring an idea to life?  Please consider applying, or pointing your friends and colleagues in our direction.

Respond to our Request for Qualifications here.

Drop us a line at info@bluegreenconnector.org if you have questions about our Trail Arts program, or wish to learn more.  We’re finalizing details for an Webinar Info Session later this summer.
